All dates are approximate as the start of Ramadan can vary slightly from country to country according to the local tradition (usually the first sighting of the moon) used to confirm the start Ramadan and lasts for a lunar month.
Muslims will during daylight hours, abstain from food and drink and cigarettes. Non-Muslims are obliged to respect those fasting by also not eating, drinking or smoking in public from dawn to dusk.
Please note that during this time most hotels provide sectioned areas for guests to dine in private and, from sunset hotel bars and restaurants will generally operate normally. The exception being Oman where you may only purchase alcoholic beverages via room-service. These restrictions can vary from hotel to hotel and locally within a city/country. Ramadan can actually be a fascinating time to travel to the Gulf states to witness the spectacular evening feasts held in the Ramadan tents and to enjoy the Arabian culture first hand.
